The determination of information systems requirements in a business context. The focus is on the analysis phase of systems development including the systems development life cycle, the feasibility study, analysis of user requirements, and the development of a logical and physical model for the system under study. Alternate development methodologies and the preparation of RFPs (Request For Proposals) will also be discussed.
Learning Outcomes
- describe the core activities, and tools and techniques, in the development process for business information systems;
- demonstrate an ability to prepare the functional system specification for a business information system with the aid of CASE software;
- develop a RFP for a business information system and evaluate vendor responses;
- communicate business information systems specifications and recommendations to decision makers.
