Available to postgraduate students enrolled in the School of Tropical Biology.

This subject constitutes a short research project of six-eight weeks duration full-time or part-time pro rata equivalent. In consultation with the Course Coordinator and an appropriate supervisor, the candidate will design a project and prepare a research proposal. Candidates will then undertake field or laboratory work in accordance with the research proposal, analyse the results and prepare a report in the form of a scientific paper.

Learning Outcomes

• formulate and execute a research plan;
• gain experience of working with an established research team which may be based inside or outside of the University;
• learn how to draw appropriate conclusions from research findings;
• learn how to evaluate and utilise scientific literature in a research project;
• present the completed work in the form of a research report.
