This subject aims to present the major principles of crop production in tropical climates by studying the growth, physiology, agronomy, pest control, breeding and cropping of contrasting crops: rice (cereal), soybean (grain legume), sugarcane (commodity crop) and mangoes (tree crop).

Learning Outcomes

• to develop basic knowledge of the sustainable production of tropical crops;
• to understand the constraints to plant growth and productivity in tropical cropping systems;
• to enhance knowledge of a specific area of applied biology;
• to develop critical thinking and writing skills.
