This is the continuation of two semesters of biology as outlined in . The subject covers biological aspects of health, the cellular bases of life, multicellular systems, with an emphasis on the anatomy, physiology and the diseases of the human circulatory and respiratory systems. Further organ systems are examined and their failings explained. Theory of biology is supplemented by laboratory experience in experiments relevant to these topics.
Learning Outcomes
- describe the function and dysfunction of organ systems, the central role of genetics and the protective role and disorders of the immune system;
- state the function of major organ systems, their dysfunction in disease and the immune response in defence;
- gather and present biological data;
- demonstrate practical ability with organ dissections and laboratory procedures.
