Available to BCW students only
Students will be placed in a human services/social welfare agency, under the supervision of a qualified social welfare worker, to undertake a field education project which reflects the learning objectives of this subject. The field placement will be undertaken concurrently with other level three subjects and the field experience can be linked to one or more of these subjects' learning objectives or assessment.
Learning Outcomes
- develop skills in negotiation and consultation by working on a project in conjunction with a human service/social welfare agency;
- further develop practice skills in interviewing, research, group work and policy development;
- further develop their understanding of the policy/practice relationship;
- further develop their understanding of theoretical frameworks of practice;
- be able to link independent practice (field education component) with a range of practice skills.

- The ability to define and to solve problems in at least one discipline area;
- The ability to lead, manage and contribute effectively to teams;
