Available to Bachelor of Visual Arts students.

Students will explore sculpture as an area of specialization within the visual arts. Emphasis will be on the consolidation of technical skills and processes and the development and expression of a personal vision. Students will gain experience in using techniques such as flexible moulding, casting in wax, fiberglass, bronze etc and welding. Students will gain experience in research and experimentation, the development of ideas, and their synthesis and translation into creative outcomes

Learning Outcomes

• to demonstrate an understanding of safe work practices;
• to develop problem-solving skills to assist in creative decision-making and critical inquiry in fine art;
• to gain an appreciation of the inherent qualities of processes and techniques in the studio major area of sculpture;
• to identify, employ and demonstrate proficiency in key competencies necessary to visual arts practice.

Assessment:	(80%); (20%).
Special Assessment Requirements:	In order to establish the authenticity of work submitted for assessment, attendance at practical classes is compulsory. Rolls are kept and work submitted by students with an attendance of less than 80% will not be eligible for assessment unless prior approval has been obtained in writing from the lecturer.
