An exploration of the evolution of visual expression embracing western and non-western cultures, through a series of image presentations and discussions (Part A).

Learning Outcomes

• develop a working knowledge of some of the basic concepts underpinning scholarship and research in the visual arts;
• gain an insight into the relationship between culture and the environment;
• become acquainted with the evolution of the visual arts in major western and non-western cultures;
• gain an appreciation of other cultural traditions and the relationship between cultural meaning and visual form.
