Traditional and contemporary approaches to Fine Art presentation and associated construction techniques will be explored. Students will undertake workshops in: safety awareness; the construction of easels or plinths; basic tool making; construction of folders and boxes for the storage, transport and/or display of works on paper; construction of painting stretchers and framing of canvases; matt cutting and framing of works under perspex, as well as alternative presentation techniques for works on paper.

Learning Outcomes
- to gain an appreciation of safe work practices;
- to gain the practical skills required to access the workshop tools and equipment necessary for construction and presentation techniques;
- to understand the fundamentals of creating traditional and contemporary methods of display.

Special Assessment Requirements: | In order to establish the authenticity of work submitted for assessment, attendance at practical classes is compulsory. Rolls are kept and work submitted by students with an attendance of less than 80% will not be eligible for assessment unless prior approval has been obtained in writing from the lecturer. |
