The subject comprises three modules. Module one addressed the demography of the aged population in Australia and the biological, social and psychological processes of ageing. Stereotypes of ageing and successful ageing are considered in conjunction with the concerns of race, gender and crime. Module two covers classification issues, emotional changes, depression, anxiety, mood and cognitive disorders. Ethical and practical issues of care and counselling form the basis of module three. Students taking SS1104 for credit toward a higher qualification must complete it in one semester by the end of the final week of classes.
Learning Outcomes
