This subject will provide foundation skills and knowledge for students entering the Bachelor of Physiotherapy course. It will present an overview of the history of the physiotherapy profession along with issues relating to evidence-based practice and the role of key organisations within the profession. Students will be introduced to the breadth of physiotherapy clinical practice. Key concepts relating to the role of physiotherapy within the health environment will be explored.
Learning Outcomes
- describe the meaning of evidence-based practice and its implications for physiotherapy;
- identify and utilise principal sources of physiotherapy professsional knowledge;
- understand the foundations of physiotherapy as a profession;
- demonstrate an understanding of the role of the physiotherapist within the health care environment including the variety of clinical settings in which physiotherapists practice.
