This subject explores the theoretical and practical knowledge and skills required by registered nurses when caring for patients during the perioperative stages. Content includes managing the physical and psychosocial needs for patients with complex health care problems, clinical problem-solving and an introduction to technological interventions specifically relating to interventions in the following areas: ophthalmology; cardiothoracic; vascular; ear, nose and throat; neuroscience. Also information relating to paediatrics will be covered. Competency-based clinical assessment will occur during the clinical practice component of the subject.
