Students will continue their ongoing study of tonal music theory and composition techniques and will undertake a study of jazz theory, composition and improvisation. Further studies in orchestration and arrangement are undertaken with a focus on jazz arrangement, along with further studies in the techniques of music anlaysis.

• gain a knowledge of the jazz ensemble and the manner in which music is composed and arranged for jazz ensembles;
• gain an understanding of jazz and improvisation techniques and analysis;
