Available to Master of Biomedical Science (Coursework) or Master of Applied Science students in Microbiology and Immunology.
Candidates will carry out an extensive review of the world literature on a selected topic which may be incorporated into the dissertation. They will also undertake an independent research investigation on a mutually agreed topic. The subject encompasses data collection, dissertation writing and defence stages of the independent research investigation. The dissertation will be of a sufficient standard to satisfy the examiners, some of which may be external.
Learning Outcomes
- prepare a dissertation on the topic which critically reviews the literature;
- review the scientific literature on a particular topic;
- understand aspects of experiment planning, costing, execution and data interpretation;
- understand scientific conventions in writing and data presentation.
