This subject provides a basic coverage of the concepts and current issues in service operations management. Topics include the value equation in operations management; understanding services; building the service system; operating the service system; enterprise resource management (ERP) and supply chain management concepts.
Learning Outcomes
- be introduced to contemporary methodologies for customer measurement, such as quality function deployment and service quality issues;
- gain familiarity with business process and capacity management, work flow management;
- gain familiarity with useful statistical tools for continuous improvement;
- obtain a general understanding of the operations management function in business and its relationship to managing the supply chain;
- outline some of the definitions of service operations management.
