The Year 4 program is designed as a single integrated full year subject because it achieves a high level of integration across basic medical sciences, clinical pathology and clinical medicine. There are four major themes medicine, surgery, womens and childrens health and rural health. Approximately 50% of the year will be spent in clinical health care settings in communities across northern Australia, with the other 50% on-campus.
Learning Outcomes
- describe the pathological basis of common and/or important human diseases;
- determine and interpret an appropriate range of clinical investigations relevant to each patient problem;
- further understand the personal and professional roles of medical practitioners;
- generate a list of health care problems that patients may have;
- take a focused history from and conduct a focused examination on patients with a range of health problems.
