This subject will examine the experience of medical practice in international settings, including an overview of major health patterns internationally, the burden of disease in international health disasters and low resource settings, health consequences of human rights violation, war and disaster and refugee health. Students will gain an understanding of the challenges for health services providers and be taught communication skills in counselling in special situations.

    Special Assessment Requirements:This subject is assessed within an integrated assessment program for all Year 3 subjects. The assessment as detailed below, is the integrated assessment schedule for all Level 3 subjects. Students must participate in all formative assessment tasks to be eligible to sit the summative assessments. Attendance at clinical placements is mandatory and completion to a satisfactory level is required.
