The subject covers four major areas relevant to Tropical Estuarine Studies: the physical environmental setting, the biological and ecological responses of plants and animals to the physical regime, the study of stresses and impacts on these systems and the interaction between science and management of tropical coastal marine systems. Emphasis will be placed on the ecological functioning and how hard science can be directed to underpin coherent management of these systems. Students will be required to attend lectures and practical classes in MB3220.
