Ecological overview of human impacts on and conservation of, tropical marine populations, species, habitats and ecosystems. Examination of the types and scales of threatening processes and how their effects are measured, with emphasis on coral reefs and mangroves. Further topics will include conservation genetics, endangered populations and species, marine reserve design, biodiversity, seascape ecology and restoration ecology, with case studies on marine invertebrates, fishes, reptiles and mammals. Students will be required to attend lectures, seminars, practicals and field trips in Mb3200.
