This subject will provide students with the ability to analyse and identify opportunities for information system support in business activities in both small and large organisation settings. An emphasis will be on the use of information systems for the support of decision making in an uncertain environment, to improve management and achieve competitive advantage. Students will be able to attain the knowledge required to work closely, from a management perspective, with computing professionals in the identification, specification, deployment, planning and management of robust and sustainable information systems that underpin eBusiness.

Learning Outcomes
- understand the role of business data in organisations and how to manage it to ensure integrity and reliability;
- understand database design and relational models;
- apply data warehousing, mining and visualisation techniques to access and manage data for decision making;
- apply business research methods to collect data and to summarise, present and critically comment on it.
