Available to Bachelor of Indigenous Studies students.
This subject developes students' television journalism skills and applies them to the creation of documentaries. It introduces students to writing program briefs, pitching story ideas and applying for funds. In practice the subject engages students in the documentary-production process which involves researching the topic, organising and conducting interviews, scripting and non-linear editing.
Learning Outcomes
- the ability to crew and undertake practical single camera location production;
- the ability to take responsibility for isolating suitable program material and undertaking the research necessary to convert the material into a producible form;
- the ability to undertake appropriate post production;
- the ability to undertake the necessary production management activities to ensure the production is possible;
- the ability to write short drama scripts.
