Those students who do not have Internet access must contact the Subject Coordinator to acquire the relevant materials. This subject explores the perceptions, assumptions and implications resulting from laws and policies introduced since colonisation and the complexities of contemporary Indigenous issues. It will examine the relevance of legislations, policies and procedures in relation to Indigenous Australians at the present time.
Learning Outcomes
- explore and critically analyse government policies towards Indigenous peoples;
- analyze human rights and social justice and the role of advocacy in promoting Indigenous well-being;
- explore the unique nature of Indigenous (collective) Rights and aspirations;
- critically analyze the historical, political, social and cultural frameworks of Indigenous affairs (in the Australian context).
