Available to Bachelor of Indigenous Studies students and students enrolled in accredited journalism programs.
Students are introduced to the daily operation of radio newsrooms and to writing for the ear. The subject prepares students for radio reporting positions and includes radio news-gathering, news writing, interviewing techniques, digital editing and radio news presenting.
Learning Outcomes
- Investigate and develop a wide network of news sources;
- Critically analyse news bulletins to translate into radio news copy;
- Construct and present news bulletin with consideration to on-air time constraints;
- Perform elementary sub-editing tasks and present radio news copy;
- Conduct complex interviews within a studio and in the field as well as proficiently operate and perform editing tasks on all digital editing equipment.
