An introduction of advanced commercial drawing and illustration techniques. Students enrolled in this subject will undertake a series of theoretical and practical workshops designed to develop a broader understanding of the function, philosophy and role of commercial drawing and illustration in contemporary society. Emphasis is placed on the practical application of research and investigative activities through exercises designed to utilise a variety of design solutions. Students will explore a more diverse range of media including colour and become aware of their role as part artist, part designer. Students will also develop an understanding of the boundaries of drawing and painting for reproduction.Structured practical exercises will introduce students to aspects of: advanced illustration and visualisation skills; figure drawing; a comprehensive range of coloured media; realistic/photoreal rendering; concept building skills.

Rolls are kept and work submitted by students with an attendance of less than 80% will not be eligible for assessment unless prior approval has been obtained in writing from the lecturer.
