This subject builds on the knowledge of population concepts and theories taught in EV2304. The contemporary population dimension to environmental changes is examined from a world perspective. The subject also focuses on contemporary thought and changes in the Australian society including youth identity, globalisation, contemporary family and household change, fertility and mortality transition, demographic perspectives of ageing and Indigenous societies.
Learning Outcomes
- to appreciate and apply the process of scientific inquiry, investigation and reporting;
- to develop competency in research encompassing practical, oral and written skills;
- to provide an overview of current demographic issues;
- to provide conceptual framework to examine population related issues.
