Learning Outcomes

• An English Honours thesis should demonstrate the following qualities: clarity of concept and originality of research project;
• a fluent and readable style and a scholarly manner and tone;
• appropriate and adequate research;
• clarity, subtlety and coherence of argument;
• evidence of understanding of and engagement with contemporary or other theoretical approaches relevant to the topic, and/or of the hermeneutic in which the argument of the thesis is conducted;
• monograph-style organisation, including introduction, chapter division and conclusion;
• technical correctness, including grammar, spelling, syntax, presentation of references and bibliographical data.

Graduate Qualities

• The ability to think critically, to analyse and evaluate claims, evidence and arguments;
• The ability to define and to solve problems in at least one discipline area;
• The ability to speak and write logically, clearly and creatively;
• A coherent and disciplined body of skills, knowledge, values and professional ethics in at least one discipline area;
