This subject introduces a range of theoretical approaches to the study of the practices of education with a particular focus on teachers work. Topics include inequities and forms of justice in Australian education in the light of challenges teachers face; literacies, discourse and power in education in relation to individual and cultural differences, child and adolescent development.
Learning Outcomes
- examine relationships among school contexts, educational policies/philosophies and teachers work;
- examine the relations among literacies, discourses and power in educational settings particularly as they relate to inequities and forms of justice;
- examine theories of learning, childhood and adolescence and their educational implications.
