This subject is designed to foster collaborative professional development in schools. It provides an opportunity for teachers and administrators to examine school-based research findings on adult workplace learning, critical reflection and a range of specific strategies for promoting collaborative professional development. Students are required to plan, implement and critically evaluate a workplace project within an action research frame, designed to enrich teachers professional development and their effectiveness in enhancing learner outcomes. As part of the negotiated project, students will trial a selection of strategies including: professional dialogue, critical incident analysis, collated learner feedback, peer coaching, mentoring and clinical supervision. Students will be required to negotiate, implement and critically evaluate an action research project for collaborative professional development relevant to their workplace.
