The subject provides a theoretical and hands-on approach to WWW design and publishing; efficient WWW access, search, retrieval and evaluation strategies; an incorporation of the WWW as a teaching and learning cognitive tool in schools, higher education and/or industry workplaces. Other areas examined include: the links between various learning theories (eg., objectivist, constructivist and post structuralist theory) and WWW teaching and learning;the nature of learning and teaching with flexible open learning modes of teaching and learning; and inclusive issues of gender, culture, and disability. Opportunity to explore and engage with educational programs available on the WWW will be provided, leading to an overview of national and international initiatives.The subject is designed to provide relevant, individualised and/or collaborative situated learning activities that take into account current and intended work contexts.

Learning Outcomes

• demonstrate an effective understanding of WWW design principles, including navigation, structure and links;
• demonstrate an indepth understanding of relevant literature including various learning and teaching theories;
• illustrate effective WWW access, search, retrieval, and evaluation strategies;
• engage in a critical evaluation of WWW teaching and learning;
• implement a project that demonstrates the above outcomes.
