Available to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Education (Secondary) and the Graduate Bachelor of Education (Secondary). Graduate BEd students are required to take this subject with or before ED3491 if it is their first teaching area. It is recommended to be taken before ED3491 if it is their second teaching area.
This subject provides an introduction to curriculum and teaching in drama within the key learning area of the Arts in the secondary school, with an emphasis on the junior secondary level. Topics include a history of drama education; basic elements of the drama curriculum; the purposes of drama teaching; planning for learning in drama and basic teaching strategies.
Learning Outcomes
- demonstrate a critical knowledge of issues in curriculum and teaching in drama;
- develop skills for planning and teaching in drama at the junior secondary level;
- understand key elements of the junior secondary drama curriculum.
