Properties of plastic and hardened concrete, mix design, concrete construction. Strength and durability of hardened concrete. Reinforced Concrete : transformed section analysis of uncracked and cracked reinforced beams; ultimate bending strength of singly and doubly reinforced beams, T and I beams; ductility; anchorage and stress development, reinforcement detailing; design for shear; deflection and crack control; slabs and slab systems; reinforced concrete columns. Prestressed Concrete: concept and construction methods; stresses in simple uncracked members, equivalent loads and load balancing, deflections; prestress losses; ultimate bending strength; introduction to end block design and anchorage. use of Australian design codes.
