This subject develops skills and knowledge in areas of financial management. Emphasis will be on: consumption and investment decision under certainty; valuation of corporate securities; capital budgeting under certainty and uncertainty; concept of risk; portfolio theory; capital asset pricing theory; cost of capital; corporate capital structure decision; dividend decision and policy and options and coporate finance.
Learning Outcomes
- To understand pro-forma statements, ratio analysis, discounted cash flow valuation and risk analysis;
- To understand the notion of market efficiency, the valuation of options and other derivatives;
- To understand fixed-income and stocks valuation, the capital budgeting process and how to select investment projects;
- To determine the optimal capital structure of the firm and how it is affected by taxes.

- The ability to calculate, produce, interpret and communicate numerical information;
- The ability to select and use appropriate IT tools.
