Famous men film actors in some of their best known roles from the early days of sound cinema to the present.
Learning Outcomes
- to consider whether radically new constitutions of masculinity on screen are possible;
- to develop an awareness of filmic techniques for transmitting meaning;
- to develop skills in analysing mens screen roles in terms of theories of masculinity while paying due attention to filmic techniques;
- to study classical constitutions of mens screen roles by Hollywood;
- to study examples of resistance to these constitutions.
