Business, government and the economy take an integrated, conceptual approach to the analysis of the economic/political environment and national economic decision making. The economic framework and analytical tools taught in this subject are particularly important to managers striving to understand the implications for their organisations of national and international economic strategies.
Learning Outcomes
- national and international economic policy;
- understand contemporary international trade, foreign direct investment, portfolio capital flows and global environment issues;
- understand the tools for studying national strategies and concepts for economic development: national income and balance of payment accounting, exchange rate theory, concepts of financial and monetary policy theory, ideology, culture, political regimes;
- understand the tradeoffs of increased economic integration.
