The material covered will build upon mathematical aspects covered in Semester 1. The subject will focus on basic algebra, geometry, statistics, populations and sampling, statistical inference and comparison and whisker-box plot and standard deviation. The delivery will focus on problem solving using these mathematical concepts.
Learning Outcomes
- utilise the student's mathematical skill for calculation of areas and perimeters of regular shapes;
- describe three dimensional objects and the calculation of volume for regular geometric shapes;
- apply trigonometric functions with calculations for angles and side lengths using tan, sin and cos ratios;
- state the properties of the straight line equation and graphing skills for plotting data, scattergram, pie chart, histogram;
- apply population sampling, normal and random distribution, quantification of data sets using the average, mean, mode and the standard deviation of data sets. The concept of statistical inference along with linear regression analysis.
