Students must have completed a Graduate Diploma in Maritime Archaeology (JCU or Flinders).
Students will undertake an independent research project on a maritime archaeological topic of their choice, subject to approval of a detailed research design submitted to staff at the commencement of semester. Preference will be for projects using documentary or oral sources, synthesising or interpreting existing materials and information, or working in conjunction with senior researchers, although limited field research may be approved. Students will produce a 10,000 word short thesis for assessment by end of semester, but will also be encouraged to prepare their material for submission to a refereed journal. Masters level self-guided research programme. There will also be seminars scheduled as required to monitor progress.
