This subject will introduce the student to aquaculture in tropical Australia and other tropical regions of the World. It will provide information about the status and methods of production of the major species cultured in this region and about the trends and opportunities for new species culture.
Learning Outcomes
- describe the practices used to culture species such as pearl oysters, barramundi, penaeid prawns and redclaw crayfish;
- describe the production and value of the major aquatic species cultured in tropical Australia and tropical regions overseas;
- describe trends and opportunities for new species aquaculture in tropical Australia.
