Evidence-based practice is the systematic and critical use of current research evidence in making decisions regarding the welfare of those in need of social services. This subject is designed to educate and train practitioners in social welfare and allied disciplines in acquiring skills in evidence-based solutions. It focuses on systematic and critical approaches to developing and using research to inform decisions about practice and policy.

Learning Objectives:

an understanding of systematic and critical approaches to developing and using research to inform decisions about practice and policy;

develop skills in designing evaluations of policy and practice;

gain the ability to undertake research for evidence-based solutions in practice.

Assessment by essays (50%); assignments (50%).
