Dimensions of Human Experience
13 hours lectures, 18 hours tutorials or the equivalent. Semester 1 Internal. Semester 1 Limited Attendance (distance education students only).
Dr S Gair (Townsville campus);
Ms R Lynn (Cairns campus).
The subject focuses on the meaning of `self'. Using the medium of `social literature' (including novels, plays, poetry, film, biographies, autobiographies etc) the subject aims to heighten students' awareness of the ways in which factors such as class, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual preference, abilities that shape human experience. Attention is also drawn to the way our own experiences impact on the way we communicate, interpersonally, in groups and communities.
