Visual Arts Fundamentals 1A
[Non-Bachelor of Visual Arts students wishing to undertake this subject should seek approval from the Associate Dean for the College of Music, Visual Arts and Theatre or the head of Visual Arts]
Available to all students subject to portfolio presentation and interview. This is a core subject within the Bachelor of Visual Arts degree. Students should attend the introductory visual arts lecture (usually on Monday in Orientation Week) and register for preferred practical group through LearnJCU.

Students will develop an appreciation of aesthetic qualities, conceptual approaches, skills and practices employed in the visual arts areas of painting, printmaking and sculpture. Elements and principles of design as required by the fine artist, will be explored as conduits for visual expression. Practical training in workshops with demonstrations and class discussions will provide students with skills for the realisation of their ideas.
