Tourism Transport and Technology

This subject acquaints students with international and sub-regional transport modes, networks and patterns, passenger flows and regulation. There is a strong focus on aviation, airports, cruise shipping and surface transport. It also explores the roles of the Internet, reservations systems and emerging technologies in the tourism industry. This subject includes a field trip component.

Learning Objectives:

understand the structure, nature and operation of global transportation;

explore the role of various transport providers in the tourism industry;

recognise the importance and application of technology for tourism.

Assessment by on-course assessment (60%); final examination (40%).
