take and interpret vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiratin, blood pressure);

demonstrate competence in implementing standard and additional precautions against infection;

list and describe the means of cross infection as well as diseases that may be acquired through cross infection;

take and interpret a simple client history, record the findings and write referral letters;

demonstrate safe physical handling skills when dealing with patient transfers;

demonstrate ability to position and feed a person who requires assistance;

describe the practical and legal requirements concerning the administration of medications;

demonstrate awareness of strategies to manage basic human crisis management;

describe `Duty of Care' in relation to client confidentiality and strategies to ensure confidentiality is maintained in the OT-client relationship;

analyse issues related to health care in a cross-cultural setting and examine own attitudes and behaviours in this setting;

complete a Senior First Aid Certificate.
