Emergency Issues and Crisis Management
Available to students in the Occupational Therapy program and for students in other courses with the permission of the Head of School.

This subject enables students to develop some basic skills associated with early contact with clients. It includes gaining competency in some basic clinical skills such as taking vital signs, history taking and physical handling. The subject examines issues related to privacy and safety and to codes of behaviour. Health and social issues commonly encountered in home visits such as cross-cultural issues, crisis resolution, medication taking by clients and infection control are also examined. Students will be required to complete a certified Senior First Aid Certificate.
