Advanced Practicum

HECS Band 1

500 hours supervised practicum. Full year Limited Attendance. Students may commence in Semester 1 or 2.

Available to students admitted to the Doctor of Psychology program.

Staff:

Assoc. Professor E Helmes and other professional staff.

This subject forms the practical placement for the Doctor of Psychology course. The placement provides students the opportunity to refine and develop their skills in association with a skilled field supervisor. The subject also includes attendance at clinic and professional seminars.

Learning Objectives:

work in a variety of practical settings to develop applied clinical skills and work practices and become familiar with with professional networks within which psychologists are required to operate;

exposure to different approaches to problems, therapy and work environments to aid professional development and adaptability to future work situations.

Assessment by a folio representing work completed during the practicum (pass/fail) and by a pass/fail rating of performance by the field supervisor during the practicum.
