This subject reviews the environmental and biological factors that influence psychological development from birth to late life. Ethical factors in making legal and medical decisions are related to the psychological and physical disorders that can compromise capacity. Students are provided with skills for assisting clients and families affected by common developmental disorders in children and adolescents and chronic disorders in adults.

Learning Objectives:

knowledge of the relationship between health and illness in one's development from birth to late life;

understanding of the biological, environmental and psychosocial influences in the development of psychological problems associated with developmental and chronic disorders;

develop the knowledge and skills of the different methodologies used to evaluate health disorders applicable to different age groups.

Assessment by practical competency demonstration and written assignments.
