Introduction to Underwater Photography
Available to all students with basic open water diving certificate; minimum 15 hours logged diving time; inclusion on the JCU Dive Register and current AS2299 Dive Medical Certificate. All students wishing to enrol must complete and submit the appropriate application form to the subject coordinator.

This subject provides students with an introduction to the basic theory and techniques of photography followed by a detailed introduction to the field of underwater still photography using scuba equipment and both digital and conventional camera equipment. It combines a comprehensive coverage of the use of the equipment, materials and techniques of underwater photography with a thorough grounding in applicable workplace health and safety concerns and procedures. Students will also be instructed in the proper care and maintenance of the equipment used. Several field trips diving on the Great Barrier Reef are a compulsory component of this subject and significant additional costs therefore apply.
