Haematology 1
This subject introduces the student to haematology and the haematology laboratory. The structure and function of blood cells is reviewed, concentrating on issues applicable to the diagnosis of clinical pathology. Basic methods of quantitation of blood components are introduced as are techniques used to establish the diagnosis of normal haemostasis. The subject has a major practical focus, which begins the process of professional competency for a medical laboratory scientist in haematology.
