Introduction to Physiology and Pharmacology
Available to all students except those enrolled in Bachelor of Nursing Science, Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy, Sport and Exercise Science and Medicine/Surgery.

This subject will provide foundation knowledge and understanding of the physiological function of the body and the principles of the action of drugs. After a broad introduction to the major body systems, learning acitivities will develop around the themes of homeostasis, nervous and endocrine regulation of function, the interaction of the body with the external environment and comparative functional physiology. Topics to be addressed include the complexity and diversity of physiological function, biological rhythms, regulation of key aspects of body homeostasis, introduction to cell communication and regulation and an introduction to drug actions, dispersal and toxicology.
