Pharmacy Research Honours (On-course)

Available to level 4 Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) students.

This subject consists of research undertaken for preparation of a thesis for the Pharmacy Honours degree. Seminars accompany the research process. Students will be able to choose pharmaceutical research projects in level 3 of the subject. Possible research areas include pharmacy practice, social aspects of pharmacy, pharmacokinetics, pharmacology, drug discovery, medicinal chemistry and molecular biology. All projects are subject to approval by the honours coordinator of the Pharmacy program.

Learning Objectives:

demonstrate an ability to formulate a research question and project plan;

carry out a literature search and critically review the literature;

devise a research proposal appropriate to the research question;

collect data based on the research proposal;

analyse data, demonstrating use of appropriate methods and the ability to evaluate results critically.

Assessment by literature review (10%); project plan (20%); final presentation (10%); examination of thesis (60%).
