Management and Organisational Skills
26 hours lectures, 26 hours workshops, 39 hours practicals with 18 hours being based in a community organisation. Semester 1.
Available to level 2 Occupational Therapy students.
This subject will introduce students to the current theories and practice of management in health service delivery within the public, private and non-government systems. Topics include management functions; theories, program development; evaluation, accreditation, legislative requirements, group processes and team skills, marketing, leadership, self management, professional development, documentation and cost management. Skills in the analysis, application and adaptation of goal directed activity will be consolidated through conducting group activities with community organisations.
demonstrate knowledge of the processes of management, leadership and supervision of health service and occupational therapy service delivery;
describe strategies for time and stress management and for working professionally as part of a team;
apply knowledge on professional accountability (including service accreditation, evaluation and financial accountability) to provision of occupational therapy services;
