Practice Development Project

80 contact hours. Semester 2.

Available to Graduate Diploma of Forensic Mental Health students.

Staff:

Professor C Holmes.

Students will be asked to identify a topic of interest or concern in their workplace; conduct a literature search on the chosen topic; generate a range of possible ways of improving practice in relation to the chosen topic and assess their evidential bases; and submit a written report, including the rationale for the topic, a short literature review, a summary of the practice development strategies available and their evidential bases and a brief plan for implementing change based on the evidence.

Learning Objectives:

to critically assess aspects of their workplace practices;

to locate resources and data relevant to forensic issues;

to conduct a literature search and write a systematic review;

to assess the evidence for particular standpoints or practices in forensic care;

to make evidence-based recommendations for change in forensic settings.

Assessment by problem-based case study (100%).
