Ms L Stewart.

This subject provides the student with the opportunity to design and develop a project (policy, teaching package, risk management or quality improvement project, evidence-based research project) which can be used to improve patient care and explore an in-depth area of interest within a chosen specialty. The student will explore the elements of clinical governance in a contemporary health care environment. The student's learning is thus extended and applied to addressing nursing problems related to a clinical setting. The topic for the major assignment is negotiated with the subject coordinator. The project should be original and clinically focused and related to the student's work setting.

Learning Objectives:

further develop critical thinking, reflective and analytical skills;

demonstrate the ability to design a project that addresses an identified clinical problem relating to a specialist nursing care environment;

design a clinically focused project using evidence-based research skills.

Assessment by two assignments (60% and 40%).
